The Shell Eco-marathon is an event that challenges student teams from around the world to design, build and test ultra energy efficient vehicles. In order to give spectators and competitors the ability to follow the race and support teams we created an iOS and Android app, allowing fans get the latest news from the race and find vital information from each team.
The experience UX and every screen state was storyboarded individually. Interface and animation styleframes were then further defined in Photoshop.
All designs were completed in a tight 4 week timeframe which included wireframing, screen design, icon design, animations, and optimisation for iPhone and Android. We also included a 'cheer team' function allowing the app to become a more social experience, and a 'team selector' section that gives users a fun way of finding a team to support.
The app incorporates live feeds, data visualisations, stats and an in-depth track view, allowing visitors to visitor to keep get the latest news from their favourite team.
